Goals

So, it's the beginning of the year.  I always try to do better and I have many "new starts".  But, it seems like the beginning of the year gives me just a little more motivation than all those other times (although I did a whole ton of cleaning in December and we're not just talking surface kind.  It went deep.  It was VERY good.).  So, I have to say that I'm a "New Years resolutions" kinda gal.  In the past, I have had about four goals for the year.  It seems there are so many things to fix that I don't get to everything and I'm frustrated.  And I usually keep these goals really quiet.  But, this year, I've decided to try something different.  There is one area of my life that has bugged me for ages.  I have always wanted to fix this, and it seems that no matter how hard I try, I seem to not fix it all the way in the end.  So, I have figured out a way to fix it.

My mother in law teaches Gospel Doctrine every other Sunday.  She taught the first Sunday of January.  In her lesson, she mentioned that we should know the scriptures better than any other book ever written.  This is the struggle I mentioned in the above paragraph.  I have tried to change my reading habits, but thus far, I am just NOT a reader.  It's not the first thing I do when I have a few minutes of time.  It's just not on priority list.  So, this year, I have decided I am going to do just what my mother in law said; get to know the scriptures better than any other book I know.  And since we are studying the Book Of Mormon this year in Sunday School, I feel that it's a perfect year to do it.  This is my ONE goal for this year.  If I have ONE, then I have ONE area that I can focus on for the year.  I feel it's important enough that I don't want other things overshadowing it.

With that, I'm off.  Happy 2012!!!

  1. That is an awesome goal! I can't say I'm a real "scriptorian" but I am really looking forward to reading the Book of Mormon again this year in Sunday School! Good luck!!
